Lonsdale Park Camp

This week we went to camp at Lonsdale Park by Matauri Bay. We had sooo much fun that we didn't want to leave. Surf school was our favourite activity which everyone enjoyed. Here are some of the photos of our day.

First of all we had to listen to the surf instructors.
Then we had to practise the new skills they were teaching us.
Some of us were more into it than others.
We were into it.

It was great fun in the water.
We were spread out to minimise crashing.
Some of us took a little longer to get to the water as our surf boards were a little too big.

Maihi competed at the North Island athletic championships at MT Smart in Auckland this year, where he won a gold medal in discus with a throw of 31metres. His throw was also 5 metres further than the South Island champion, which made him the top 11yr old discus thrower in Aotearoa/New Zealand for 2018.
Well done Maihi, very proud of you.

Summer Learning Journey

Last year a number of Room 3 students participated in the 'Summer Learning Journey'. Three of our students were awarded their prizes today. Well done Javed 1st place. Well done Carmel and Elyse 2nd equal.

Ocean swim

On Saturday Maihi participated in the Ocean swim at Paihia. He participated in the swim because it was good for  his fitness and his swimming skills.  Maihi warmed up before his race so he wouldn't get a cramp. He felt very nervous, butterflies were zooming around his puku as he waited to start. There was a big as horn blast to tell him it was time to start, Maihi got the biggest fright ever. Off he went he was feeling calm, then he began to feel tired as soon as he got to the middle. Maihi thought he would have a rest and get his goggles on, but he couldn't stand up; he thought it was shallow as but it wasn't. He had to use his legs to keep himself afloat. The race ended (Maihi nearly fainted) and Maihi was happy it was over, it took him 6 minutes and 34 seconds. His mum and dad were so proud of him. Maihi had a great day.

Technology Classes In Kaikohe

Tomorrow, year 7 and 8's are all travelling to Kaikohe Intermediate to contribute in Technology Classes. On the paper our parents had to sign it said we would go every second Thursday. We are all excited because we have never been to any technology classes. We have brought all of our permission slips back and we are ready to rock'n'roll. And that is the blog update for today, because we haven't posted in a while.
